The Eastside Of Curaçao
For those who like adventure and nature, a drive to the East-side is a must. It’s a great trip for the more adventurous at heart. There are farms, parks and estates which are open for visitors. In this area the Aloe Plantation, the Ostrich Farm, Serena’s Art Factory and Amazonia are all located within 5 minutes from each other.
St. Joris Bay
If you follow the road passing The Ostrich farm you’ll get to one of Curacao’s most remote bays, St. Joris. This big inland bay attracts surfers, bikers and hikers. The bay is situated on the rocky North-East side of the island and is almost untouched. You can walk along the bay or hike through one of the side roads and see the ocean rushing into the channel leading to the bay. The bay is the best place on Curaçao for Kitesurfing and Windsurfing. There is a kitesurf and windsurf rental shop and the possibility to take lessons.
Aloe Plantation
To reach the east side of Curaçao you’ll need to take the road to Santa Catharina. Take a right at the sign Aloe Plantation. On that road you’ll find the Aloe Vera Plantation, where the CurAloe product line is produced. Visitors can enjoy a short Aloe Vera presentation where they learn all there is to know about the Aloe Vera plant, the secrets of its healing properties and see how they produce these natural products.
Chichi’s Art Factory
Next you’ll pass Serena’s Art Factory, where the Chichi® sculptures are made and painted by local painters. You can participate in one of their workshops and paint your own Chichi®.
The Ostrich Farm
On the same road you will also pass The Ostrich Farm where you can learn about and interact with the biggest bird in the world. They have a Safari tour every hour or Quad Tour. Feeling hungry after your tour? Zambezi Restaurant is part of the Ostrich Farm. The ecologic farm has an African setting and is surrounded by the nature area of Sint Joris. Their specialty is ostrich steak, but they’ve got plenty of other African dishes too.
