Landhuis Jan Kok was founded by the Dutchman Adriaan Kock in 1704, it is probably one of the oldest country houses of the island. Build opposite the salt plains it used to extract salt from the Port Mari salt plains. More than 100 slaves used to work on the salt plains and the Jan Kok Plantation produced more than 16,000 barrels of salt. Since year 2000 local artist Nena Sanchez has her Art Gallery here.
