Experience the beauty of Curacao’s nature, history and culture. Hato Caves are approximately 240 m long. They were formed in coral limestone by karst processes. The Amerindian Arawaks were the first known inhabitants of the caves, about 1,500 years ago. They left behind many cave drawings, called petroglyphs. In the days of slavery, runaway slaves used the caves as a hiding place.
